Ryan's friend Luke came through on his way to Reno. Luke has been quite the traveler the past few months, and has effectively driven across the entire country! Reno is his last stop and where he is going to be living for a while. Luke and his cousin CJ spent one night with us on their way to Reno.
Friday we closed out our school year. It was for sure the hardest day of my teaching career. Emmaus is now officially closed. We let go of green and white balloons after our closing chapel service. We were a mess. A friend of mine posted on my facebook that she was going to think of the balloons as all the lives I've touched while at Emmaus. I think I will think of them as all of the lives that touched me while I was there.
*Side note--as a teacher I never would accept my students friend requests while they were at Emmaus. Since Friday I've added new friends to my facebook...all students. I am so thankful for technology that I will be able to keep in touch with so many families that have been a big part of my life!
Friday we had our last youth group lock-in. Pictured above you'll see our distinguished youth leaders.
I decided my mustache was too big so I cut the ends off and made them my eyebrows...this youth was super excited about my new look! :)
Saturday after coming home from the lock-in I had a terrible pain in my stomach. I knew it was my gallbladder and figured it would go away as it had before...not so lucky. Saturday night I told Ryan to take me to urgent care and hopefully they could give me some magic pills and I could sleep and be fine in time for Monday's Bolder Boulder...no such luck. They sent me to the ER which resulted in me being admitted on Saturday night, having my gallbladder taken out on Sunday at 3 and going home Monday around 3pm. Talk about putting a kink in my plans to get my summer started! Oh well...now I have an excuse to lay around and watch a million episodes of mindless TV on netflix!
