Photos

Since receiving my fabulous camera for Christmas I enrolled in a Photography class at the Denver Darkroom.  It was supposed to be a two week class but it's turning into a four week class--at the price of the two week class!  Below are some of the photos I've taken...we learned a lot about aperture and shutter speed in the first two weeks.  I've edited them with Picnik.

These two photos were taken from the 15th Street Pedestrian bridge that goes over I-25.  We were to use a fast shutter speed and pan the camera with the vehicle that we were taking a picture of, the result would be a blurred background and an in focus vehicle.  I have seen these kinds of pictures, but I never thought that I would be able to take them.  The exposure was a little too bright so I used Picnik to darken them back up.

This photo was taken near the same 15th Street Pedestrian bridge.  The assignment was to take two photos, one in which one can see the water as you would see it in person.  The photo on the right is the same area but this time the water was to look velvety.  Unfortunately the one on the right is a little out of focus.  I think it's neat to see them side by side and really see the difference in the water.

These two photos are of the actual bridge.  I think they turned out AMAZING after some editing.  The one on the left I just simply sharpened the colors.  The one on the right was under exposed so I changed the exposure appropriately, and then took it a few steps further to create the look you see.  This one is part of an assignment.  We have to bring a black & white, artistic print of this structure back.

Here are two of the black and white ones I've created.  I think my favorite one is the top one.  It was daylight out when I took them, but I used the "invert" function on Picnik to create this.  I like it. :)

My final little collage here is my new running shoes!  Ryan and I have been very good about going to the gym since 2011 began.  We both went shopping (at the Nike Outlet Store) for new shoes for our new "hobby".  We went to our appropriate gender sections of the store and we both picked out the same pair of shoes!  His are black where mine are purple.  So, here's my photo collage dedicated to running the Bolder Boulder in May.  I didn't edit any of these photos, I just put them in a collage.

Wow! I am really impressed with the pictures. Are you adding photographer to your list of things you can do for weddings? I didn't know you were running the Boulder race, sounds like a fun party. Aunt Donna P.
