Woah, it's been so long since I last blogged that blogger has changed significantly! Every day I think that I need to blog, then I get home and don't. So here's a quick run-down of what's been going on...
For Easter my parents came out to CO to celebrate. Dad & Ryan fixed my car for THREE DAYS! It runs great! Mom and I went shopping & she helped me hang some curtains and she made some curtains for us. It was great to have them here!
The next weekend I turned the dreaded, but so far, so go 3-0! My cousin and her boyfriend were out for the weekend and I got to celebrate my birthday quite a bit--Happy Hour with friends, dinner with Kayla, Andrew, & Ryan, and then on Monday the staff ans students surprised me with cake & balloons after lunch!
Remember how I blogged about joining boot camp? Well we're on week 7 already!! At our five week assessment I was able to cut a minute off of my mile run, and have lost 2 inches in my waist! I love it! I think I'm going to continue through the summer for sure. I would continue for a full year, but I'm not sure I will be able to with my new job.
I got some bummer news about my new job. They decided to close their middle school program (grades 6-7-8) after this year. I was pretty upset about this on many fronts. I wish I could have had more pull, but not actually being the principal yet, I couldn't do much. Some of my students here at Emmaus were planning on attending the new school I would be teaching/principaling at and now they cannot. This breaks my heart more than anything.
It's now May, the month of lasts...this weekend will be our 3rd & final musical, we will head to our final field day as a school, we will celebrate our last kindergarten graduation, and our final 8th grade graduation. I will say goodbye to many families, and many I probably won't see again on this side of heaven. Many have left special places in my heart and reminded me again and again why I do what I do.
This year has really become the epitome of the saying "when God closes a door, he opens a window." Emmaus' closing is the door closing, but it's opening lots of windows for me! I never thought I would be able to be a principal outside of Emmaus, yet some other school has called me to do that. I have some students who I would care for as my own, and who need a role model, and because I will no longer be their teacher, I'm hoping to remain in their lives as one who can encourage & build them up. I'm excited, nervous, and ready to go and see what God has for me after June 13...
