Day One...CO-->NM-->TX

After a wedding (that was so pretty and fun!) I picked up Kate and Liz and headed to my house to do final packing and by 2pm we were on the road! We headed down to Trinidad, CO, through the Northeast corner of New Mexico (which is not in the atlas alphabetically...that was troublesome for Liz), and ended up in the Northwest part (panhandle) of Texas. We're staying in Amarillo tonight and will continue on to OKC tomorrow.

We spotted antelope like creatures in the field with cows, detoured 5.5 mile (the sign said 3!) to see a valcano historical sight only to find out that it cost $5 to go up the volcano!, sang to the Wicked Soundtrack, ate pizza at a Pizza Hut with a rude waitress--who also was the manager who basically shrugged her shoulders when I calmly informed her that I thought our service was poor and that I was disappointed, called the Pizza Hut customer service line--got free pizza coupons, AND chatted with a man at the hotel desk who in the process of getting me a sweet deal told me his life saga. (I listened intently because I was trying to get a hotel room for $30! (I got it for $43--still better than the $70 he quoted me at first)).

I feel like I'm babbling, so I'm going to bed. Perhaps I'll post some pictures later this week--not of guys, sorry mom, but not of vacuums either. :)
